Why women’s health is so much more than a cervical screening

This week is Women’s Health Week and we’re putting the spotlight on prioritising your health. This year’s theme is ‘say yes to you’, a reminder that your overall well-being matters, just as everything and everyone else you care for.

Often, when we think of women’s health, we think about regular check-ups like your cervical screening, but this is only one part of the puzzle. At Grace Private, we’re here to support you as a whole, empowering you to take care of yourself in every way.

Taking charge of your well-being with Grace Private

As women, our health is complex and needs more than just a once-a-year check-up. At Grace Private, we believe in caring for the whole you, through every stage of life. From planning a baby to navigating hormonal changes, or managing everyday concerns like period pain or contraception, we’re here to support you.

Here are just some of the areas our experienced Women’s Health GPs can support you with:

  • Antenatal and postnatal care: from pregnancy to baby and beyond

At Grace Private, our multi-disciplinary team of doctors, specialists and allied health professionals walk alongside you every step of the way.

Make yourself the priority

Many women fall into the habit of deprioritising health due to busy schedules, work and family commitments, rationalising it by saying ‘if it’s not urgent, it doesn’t need attention. Managing women’s health isn’t a tick-the-box exercise, it’s about making time for things that often get pushed to the bottom of your list.

Managing your health is more than just looking after your physical well-being, it spans mental, physical, hormonal, emotional and reproductive well-being. The type and level of care you need changes throughout the different stages of your life, during puberty, contraception, fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause.

At Grace Private, we’re here to talk about health issues that often go undiscussed, whether it’s painful periods, low libido, incontinence, anxiety, mood swings, PMS, brain fog and more. We believe it’s important not to normalise discomfort, it’s not something you just have to ‘put up with’ – there’s help available. Our approach is compassionate care that treats the whole woman.

Mental health is women’s health

With work, family, relationships and everything in between, many women carry an invisible mental load every day. It’s not surprising that feelings of stress, anxiety, burnout or even depression can gradually build up. Unfortunately, these emotions often go unnoticed or get pushed aside while you keep powering through.

Don’t underestimate it, your mental and emotional well-being matter just as much as your physical health. It’s okay to not feel okay, but you don’t have to go through it alone. At Grace Private, our psychologists are here to support you with compassionate and confidential care.

Make 1 – 5 September the week to prioritise you!

We encourage you to use Women’s Health Week 2025 as a reminder to book that appointment or start that conversation! Saying yes to you and your health is essential, and the Grace Private team is here to support you, no matter what stage of life you’re going through.
