Even a mild level of incontinence can be very stressful, embarrassing and have a big impact woman on a woman’s life, no matter how or small the issue may be.

At Grace, you’re in good hands. Dr Genevieve Bishop has a special interest in female incontinence and offers urodynamics testing at Grace.

You will need a referral to make an appointment so remember to ‘Ask for Grace’ when you see your doctor.

Woman With Pelvic Pain

Types of incontinence include:

  • Overactive bladder – a very common problem that can cause urgent toilet breaks and leakage before you reach the toilet.
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence – the involuntary leakage of urine during activities such as sneezing, lifting, laughing or exercising.
  • Urinary retentions – a rare condition where the bladder over flows with urine leaking out through the urethra.

Urodynamics testing evaluates the function of the bladder, measures whether it is having involuntary contractions and identifies the cause of the problem. Your doctor may recommend urodynamic testing if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • urine leakage
  • frequent urination
  • painful urination
  • sudden, strong urges to urinate
  • problems starting a urine stream
  • problems emptying the bladder completely
  • recurring urinary tract infections
